On January 9, 2023 just as the new year began, there was good and bad news around the world and in the Futbol world.

Gareth Bale a former player for Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid, retired on the 9th through news reports and on social media.

Bale said, “After careful and thoughtful consideration, I announce my immediate retirement from club and international football.”

He also thanked everyone that has helped him throughout the years in his football career including the past clubs he has played for. Gareth Bale is the best soccer player (in my opinion) to have ever played international soccer for Wales, his home country.

He has had so many accomplishments throughout the years of his soccer career. This includes 5 Champions Leagues, 4 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 3 La Liga titles, 1 Copa del Rey, 3 Spanish Super Cups and many other accolades.

But the most shocking event is him retiring at the age of 33.

It was out of nowhere because he said that after the aftermath of Wales’ World Cup group stage exit in Qatar that he would continue and serve his country in soccer.
