That’s A Wrap! 2023 HHS Volleyball Season Review

Thats A Wrap! 2023 HHS Volleyball Season Review

Volleyball at Hawthorne High School is one of the many Fall sports offered, which lasts from the end of July to the end of October (depending on state ranking). This season was filled with fun games leaving some of the fans on the edge of their seats. The season ended with a record of 8-13 (8 wins, 13 losses), with a total of 237 kills, 320 digs, 165 assists, 25 blocks and 179 aces.

The “Team Leaders” were Simone Green with a whopping 107 assists, Kaitlyn Costello with 60 kills, and Maya Meshanni with 12 blocks. As a team, every girl had developed majorly over the season eventually making our way to the first round of the NJSIAA. Unfortunately, after losing the first round, the season had come to an end with many memories made along the way.

SENIOR NIGHT OCTOBER 24, 2023: Senior night for any sport, even any team, is a great celebration. It takes place at one of the last regular season games to celebrate the seniors last year playing that sport for HHS. Every underclassmen on the team makes posters, gift bags and decorates the entire gym for this special night. After the decorating is all finished, the seniors run in to see all of the support from friends and family. It’s always a sad day knowing that they won’t be playing with the team anymore, but it’s also a celebration for what the players have ahead. This year our seniors were Ava Tantillo, Lindsay Scott, Maya Meshanni, Kaitlyn Costello and Elena Munirji. They all had a wonderful season, with best of luck for their college years ahead!

Overall the HHS Volleyball team couldn’t have asked for a better season, as it was filled with memories and many new friends with years of more for most!
