At Hawthorne High School, there are many sports available for students to play. During spring, students have the option between many sports. These options include outdoor track and field, girls flag football, softball/baseball (JV and Varsity), boys lacrosse, and golf.
The mix of sports appeals to different interests and skill levels among the students here at the highschool. Many of the students that play a sport here at Hawthorne High School have a lot to share about their spring sports that they play. The Clarion asked freshman Sophia Perez to answer the following questions about her spring sport.
The Clarion wanted to know Sophia Perez’s answer to the following question, “What spring sports are you interested in playing this year?”
Sophia Perez corresponded by saying, “I am playing flag football. I have decided to play because I think it is very fun and it will help me improve in different aspects in my athletic career. I also just want to try something new…This is my first time playing flag football and I am very excited!”
To continue, the Clarion then asked freshman Sole Sumter questions about her spring sport. Sole Sumter was first asked what spring sports she was participating in and why. Sole Sumter informed us that she is playing softball because it is fun and entertaining. Sole Sumter was then asked if this is her first time playing this sport, and if not, how long she has played for.
Sole Sumter replied with, “This is not my first time playing this sport. I played this sport in fifth and sixth grade, however, I had to pause because I had gotten an injury…a memorable moment that made me start playing this sport again is having a fun time and making new friends!”
The final student interviewed is freshman Douglas Michel who was asked, “What spring sport are you playing and why?”
Douglas Michel gave us a response saying, “I play lacrosse! This is not my first year playing lacrosse, I have played lacrosse a different year in youth…This year, I do wish to make memories with friends I play this sport with!”
The Clarion thanks each of these students and wishes them all the best in their spring sport!!
