The Bears football team is off to a great 2-1 start! They beat Wallington 25-12 and Montclair Kimberley Academy 42-14.
Bears just played their toughest game yet against Butler. Butler is the defending sectional champs. Last year Butler beat the Bears 47-0. This year the game was tied up going into halftime 14-14. Early in the fourth quarter, the Bears trailing by a touchdown, Ali Visaev was running ran a fake punt. Ali gained 18 yards for the first down, but sadly injured his ankle.
The Bears lost a wide receiver, but still had high hopes and kept fighting for the win: the Bears couldn’t get the job done. The team lost 28-14.
After being away for three straight weeks, the Bears are finally going to come back home this Friday. They face the Hasbrouck Heights Aviators who are also 2-1.
“We want to be 1-0 every day, no matter who our opponents are” says Sebastian Gill after being asked how the Bears prepare for football games. Meaning they want to win every single day which he says leads to them winning on game days.
The Bear’s start is a lot better than last year’s start. Last year the Bears in their first three games were 0-3. The Bears are a new team this year though and won’t let one loss deter them from fighting and winning. They will bounce back and will put on a great show at home.
While the Bears get ready to face off against the Aviators, the HHS students can show their support. Make sure you are at the game on Friday at 6pm on our home field. Be ready to cheer and be loud!
This game will be a good one.
