Hawthorne High School has hired a new math teacher and head boys varsity soccer coach for the 2012-2013 school year: James Clementi.
Clementi teaches Algebra I, Algebra III, and Computer Applications. In his first year of teaching, he has already settled in nicely here at the high school. When asked how the school has treated him since he arrived, Clementi responded, “Great! The faculty is all supportive and helpful…” He added, “The students have all been good and treated me well.” When asked what made him want to be a math teacher, Clementi replied, “I was just always good at math, and I wanted to share my passion with other people.”
His students seem to agree. Trey Miller, a senior at HHS and student of Clementi, said, “As a teacher, he’s good. He’s very thorough and patient.”
Clementi is also the head coach for the school’s boys varsity soccer team. As a coach, he has created a rapport with his players. Ian Cabello, a senior varsity soccer player, said “He’s amazing because he played soccer in college, so he knows what he’s doing. He would play with us too!”
When asked what made him go into coaching, Clementi responded, “Just playing soccer all my life. I couldn’t play at the professional level, so coaching seemed like the obvious next step.”
When not enriching the minds of his players and students, Clementi also enjoys watching basketball and football.
