Hawthorne High School Alum, Adina Corasaniti, has returned to HHS, but this time she is on the other side of the desk as one of the new teachers hired in the 2013-2014 school year.
Corasaniti, who is currently teaching Algebra I, noted that she is still getting used to being a teacher here, instead of a student. “It definitely is different being on the staff side as opposed to the student side, but I am enjoying it.”
While attending HHS, Corasaniti participated in many activities such as yearbook, SHARE, the Italian Club, and she was also a varsity soccer player. She is very thankful for the teachers she had while attending HHS who helped her pursue her career. She said, “I was fortunate enough to have many outstanding teachers while I went through the Hawthorne school system.” She is specifically appreciative for two of her teachers, Mr. Agnes and Ms. D’Amato, who had a big impact on her.
Her experience babysitting kids when she was younger also helped influence her career decision–although, she always knew she was destined to become a teacher.
After graduating from HHS in 2006, Corasaniti attended the University of Delaware. Here, she majored in elementary education and minored in Italian. She commented, “I enjoy teaching a variety of students. Every period, something new always happens.”
When asked how her time teaching has been so far, she answered, “I am enjoying my time in HHS. It is good to be back.”
