Lace your shoes and get ready to run for an amazing cause because coming up is the 2nd annual 5K  Color Run! This event is held by HNJSEPAC (Hawthorne NJ Special Education Parent Advisory Council) to help raise money for Hawthorne High School, promote a healthy lifestyle, and create awareness. Just because it’s called a run doesn’t mean you should and people are encouraged to go at their own pace. Participants are also encouraged to bring nonperishable food items for donation to the Hawthorne Borough’s food pantry and aluminium pull tabs for donation to the Ronald McDonald House. As it is a fundraiser, participants are encouraged to seek out sponsors that are willing to donate money. This can either be from family or friends, or even local businesses.

To participate you must register by 4/15/17 and pay the the registration fee. If you miss this sign up date you have till 5/7/17 to register, but you will have to pay a bit extra. This fee includes run/walk registration, individual color packet, race bib, and a My School Color Run T-shirt, although these items are only guaranteed if you sign up by 4/15/17.

If participating in the race doesn’t interest you, you can also volunteer to work the race. As a volunteer you would work different stations such as check in, water/refreshments, and color stations. Offline Registration forms are also available at hawthornejsepac.com. The race is held at Goffle Brook Park in Hawthorne and registration begins at 8 A.M. followed by the race start at 9 A.M. If there is rain the race will be held on May 21st.
