How to Celebrate Christmas Safely

Jean Walsh, Staff Writer

Like everything else this year, COVID-19 is changing the way that we are celebrating the holidays. Big family gatherings just simply should not happen this year in order to keep everyone safe. However, that does not mean that you can’t celebrate Christmas all together. Here are a few ideas on how to keep the Christmas spirit this year…

Driving around to look at Christmas lights is a safe and fun option to do right now. Many people post their homes online so that others who want to see their light displays can. There are also ticketed events, such as Skylands Stadium and PNC Bank Arts Center, where you can drive through a field of lights. This is a great way to get out of the house while still being safe.

You can also stay home and bake cookies! I love to bake, especially during the holiday season because there are so many types of desserts you can make. A great idea would be to make little gift baskets of cookies for your family members and deliver them to their porches since you really can’t be together with them. Whoever you decide to bake for, they will truly appreciate it.

Those are just a couple of ideas to keep your spirits up during this difficult holiday season. Hopefully next year we can all celebrate together, happy and healthy.
