2020: The Craziest Year is Almost Over
December 22, 2020
To say that 2020 has been insane would be an understatement.
Our whole world was flipped upside down back in March, and things have not been the same since. From quarantine, to having to wear masks, and the slow process of reopening, this year has felt like it should be broken into multiple parts.
A day that has certainly gone down in history is March 13, 2020, because this was the day that things started to get really strange. HHS announced that we would be closed for 2 weeks, but little did we know that 2 weeks would turn into the rest of the school year. I remember going to Target on this day and seeing people panic buying toilet paper and wipes. Nobody really knew what was going to happen in the months that followed, but I don’t think anyone expected COVID-19 to get as bad as it did.
For New Jersey, the quarantine lasted about 2 and a half months before things really started opening again. Even though being stuck at home and having to get used to online school was annoying, you had to think of the big picture.
Some people were fighting for their lives in overcrowded hospitals, and frontline workers were getting extremely worn out. Through these difficult times, us at home were able to learn to not take the simple things in life for granted. Remember when we couldn’t even get haircuts?
As we say goodbye to 2020, we hope that 2021 will be much better, especially with the COVID vaccine now accessible. Hopefully at some point in 2021 we can return to a normal way of living.
