With prom season coming closer and closer, seniors who are planning to go to the grand event are actively gathering the items they need for their perfect night. As enthusiastic seniors begin curating their outfits, the Hawthorne Prom Closet is also actively gathering items that seniors can pick from if they so choose from the school. The closet has already gathered an abundance of dresses, purses, suits, and even some shoes, however, they are still seeking donations to give the senior class as many options as possible when choosing their prom attire.
With this being said, do you have a nice dress or suit that doesn’t quite fit you anymore? Or maybe a purse or necklace that has outgrown your taste? Maybe you have nice dress shoes that you only wore a few times and now you have no plans of wearing them in the future. If you answered yes or agreed to any of these questions and statements, then the Hawthorne Prom Closet would be glad to take any of those items off of your hands and put towards a good cause. Not only does this make room in your personal closet, but allows you to reuse your clothing in a way that helps your local community!
If you are looking to make a donation, feel free to contact the guidance office or stop in to let them know that you have donations for the Hawthorne Prom Closet. All formal wear will be accepted regardless of size or how old the item may be. Regardless if your donation is picked up by a senior from the closet for this year’s prom, many of last year’s leftover items were put towards the Hawthorne High School Drama Department for their upcoming plays and musicals, meaning that if you donate this year your item could be featured in one of their next productions! The items that are not put towards the drama department are also kept for next year’s prom, so no matter what your donation will be put to good use.
Besides this, if you are a senior interested in making your perfect prom outfit using items from the closet, feel free to let your guidance counselor know and the closet will work to send you a form of all the available dresses, suits, heels, and accessories currently offered. If you have social media, the Hawthorne Prom Closet also actively posts reminders and information on Instagram as well as does collection rounds on the town Facebook page. The closet is first come first serve, so if you are looking for the perfect prom outfit be sure to act soon!
