The Hawthorne High School golf team finished the 2025-26 season with a solid 7-4 overall record. The team showed steady improvement and promising talent for the future. Throughout the season, the Bears competed in several competitive matches, highlighted by consistent scoring, individual growth, and strong team bonding.
Season Overview: The season began strong, with Hawthorne quickly establishing itself and putting themselves on the map. The team went 5-0 through the first 5 matches beating Eastern Christian 192-207, Butler 205-227, Butler again 197-214, Garfield 176-245, and Waldwick 184-194. Key victories throughout the season helped the team build a strong foundation going forward.
By the end of the season, the Bears posted:
Overall record: 7-4
Winning Percentage: .636
Lowest team score: 175 against Park Ridge/Emerson at Preakness Valley
Lowest individual round: Sophomore Nick Warner shot a 38 at the County tournament at Preakness Valley
Strong Performances: Multiple team victories during the first half of the season helped the Bears secure a winning record.
Player Performances: The Bears core players stepped up in important moments this season to help the Bears to success and make some players and coaches heads turn as Hawthorne may be a team to look out for next season.
Charlie Manke – Senior
As one of the team captains, Charlie may not have had the season he wanted to end his high school golf career. He was still a key player in the Bears success this season. Charlie always was a good team player and lifted the guys up and was always in good spirit. Charlie Thank You for all you’ve done for the program.

Anthony Foschini – Junior
Anthony truly stepped up his game compared to last season breaking 50 for the first time and sticking to it. Anthony helped had a lot of ups and downs throughout the season but kept pushing and kept battling match after match. Anthony wants to better his game for next season and wants to be a reliable player.

Alex Torres & Gavin Tripicchio – Juniors
Both Alex and Gavin improved as the season progressed and showed it in practice and on the course. They never gave up and even if they had a bad round they would keep going and just try to get better.
Nick Warner- Sophomore
As another team captain, Nick consistently delivered strong rounds and provided leadership throughout the year. He helped set the tone and show the team that no matter what you have to keep battling. Nick played a major role throughout the season and is looking to get better and be better next season.

Luke Warner & Jack Warner – Freshman
One of the team’s most reliable players, Luke and Jack showed that they can be top players on the team right from the start. They both started on Varsity and have gained valuable experience of what competing at a competitive high school level is like. They are looking bright for the future of the program and can really turn things around as their high school careers continue.

One of Hawthorne’s biggest strengths this season was consistency and teamwork. The golfers regularly stayed competitive in matches and handled difficult course conditions.
Although the Bears will lose an important senior leadership role, the future of the program remains bright. Several younger players gained varsity experience this season and are expected to return with increased confidence next season.
With a 7–4 finish and a talented core expected to return, the Hawthorne golf team has plenty of reasons to feel optimistic about the future of the program.
