The Hawthorne Fire Department held its annual installation dinner at Macaluso’s Restaurant on January 12, 2018.

At this dinner the fire department installed the new officers for 2018, and recognized members with awards who have been on the Department for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, years and so forth. The Board of Fire Commissioners presented several awards: the two members with the most time were Ralph Malandrino (50 years) and Kenneth Silvestri (65 years) of dedicated  service to the Borough of Hawthorne.

Mayor Rich Goldberg and the Council were in attendance. The Mayor presented Kenneth Silvestri with the Mayor’s Medal, which is an honor to be given. This medal has only been given out one other time since the tragic fire and explosion  of the Morningstar Paisley fire which claimed 11 lives.

The Clarion would like to thank Kenneth Silvestri, Ralph Malandrino, along with all the other firefighters that were presented with awards at the dinner for their dedicated service to the Borough of Hawthorne.
