Murder Hornets

Murder+Hornets

2020 was a very hectic year for many reasons.

But no one really talks about the murder hornets. If you’re not familiar with the murder hornets they are bees that are a lot larger than normal. Their queen can grow up to 2 inches long. On top of that their quarter inch stinger can pierce through normal beekeeping attire. Meaning beekeepers cannot defend themselves against these types of bees. They are also vicious predators capable of killing entire honey bee hives in a matter of hours.

They come from Asia, but at the end of 2o2o they made their way to North America. It is said that a sting from the murder hornet is far more painful and toxic than one from a honeybee. Regardless of how much more the sting hurts they will still only attack if provoked by something or someone.

The people most affected are the beekeepers. They will lose a few beehives nest due to these hornets. The bees are completely helpless against the murder hornets. Luckily they have started to die down in sightings, but still some of the damage has already been done. Some people report having flu like symptoms after getting stung by the murder hornets. This goes to show that the murder hornets were a pretty big problem.
