The thunderstrike on October 7, 2023 was alarming when Palestine’s military, formerly known as Hamas, dropped from the sky. This fierce counterattack caught Israel off guard and led to a significant shift in the dynamics of the Israel-Palestine conflict. As of now, the Israel-Palestine War has escalated to unprecedented levels, resulting in widespread destruction and loss of life.
According to British records, around 376,415 Jewish immigrants, mostly from Europe, arrived in Palestine between 1920 and 1946. During that period the Jewish population had engulfed 33 percent of Palestine and owned 6 percent of land. As of now, Palestine controls only 15% of historic Palestine all residing in Gaza and the West Bank.
In the besieged Gaza Strip, in total of 2.3 million people, 1.7 million refugees have been displaced by Israel. Many of these refugees who have left their homes to seek asylum in their country have been killed. It was reported on October 9, 12, 19, and 22 that the Israeli military has repeatedly bombed the Jabalia Camp, three housed United Nations schools, and converted shelters.
Destruction by Israel has resulted in a lack of clean running water forcing Palestinians to use murky water from wells, increasing the extent of waterborne diseases.
“It’s become a matter of life and death. It is a must: fuel needs to be delivered now into Gaza to make water available to two million people,” said UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini.
As of today, the bombing has intensified as Gaza reached a death toll over 9,200 since October 7, 2023.
