So far, 2025 has been one of the hottest years ever. Many places all over the world are having really strong heatwaves. A heatwave is when it stays very hot for many days in a row. Some cities have gotten so hot that schools had to close. People are being told to stay indoors, drink lots of water, and try to stay cool.
Scientists say this is happening because of climate change. That means the Earth is getting warmer over time. This is mostly caused by pollution from things like cars, factories, and power plants. When we burn things like coal, oil, and gas, it puts gases into the air that trap heat, kind of like a blanket around the Earth. Now the planet is heating up.
This kind of heat can be very dangerous. It’s not just about being sweaty or uncomfortable. Some people are getting sick from the heat. It can cause heatstroke, which is when your body gets too hot and can’t cool down. In some places, it has even caused people to die. Hospitals are getting more people coming in with heat-related illnesses.
The heat is also hurting farms. Plants like wheat, corn, and rice don’t grow well in extreme heat. That means there could be less food, and prices could go up. Water is also becoming a big problem. Lakes and rivers are drying up faster, and that means there’s less water for drinking, farming, or animals.
Animals are having a hard time too. Some animals can’t find water or food, and others are leaving their homes to find cooler places. Forest fires are also happening more often because everything is so dry. That makes it worse for both people and wildlife.
But the good news is, we can still help. Countries are starting to use cleaner energy like solar panels and wind power. Cities are planting more trees to create shade and keep the air cooler. Some places are building special “cooling centers” where people can go to escape the heat.
Even kids and students can do things to help. We can save electricity by turning off lights and electronics when we’re not using them. We can waste less water, recycle more, and talk to others about helping the planet. Every little thing adds up.
This year’s heat is a big warning. It shows us that we need to take better care of the Earth. If we all work together and make small changes, we can help protect our future.
