History Teacher by Day, Crime-Fighting Vigilante by Night

Hawthorne High School’s history department is complete with a collective of the most passionate of faculty. From Wallace Masiak to Joshua Kabrel, each and every Hawthorne High student can be sure of exceptional education. The teacher of U.S. History I H, U.S. II AP, and American Studies: 1960’s – 1990’s is one remarkable man, Matthew Corvo, who was selected as the 2014 District Teacher of the Year. Nevertheless, the 2014 District Teacher of the Year has a unique secret: he is the crime-fighting vigilante Hawthorne, New Jersey has pondered about for a decade.

Corvo’s superhero alias is Crow-vo, and he is dedicated to the supervision of each and every ordinance in the Passaic County borough. Crow-vo has managed how the people of Hawthorne, New Jersey park on Utter, Florence, Lincoln, and Grand Avenue. Crow-vo has guaranteed a safe, summer recreational program for children and the elderly. Crow-vo has assured the resurface of the Roller Hockey Rink at Hawthorne High School. Crow-vo is Mayor Richard S. Goldberg’s best resource, and he is praised by the public.

Hawthorne High School senior Raiya Isaac can recall one time where she has encountered Crow-vo, outside of the classroom of her 60’s – 90’s course. “I drove on Rock Road, and Crow-vo was there to be sure I abided by the speed limit. I could’ve seriously damaged my car. Crow-vo saved my car insurance.”

One Hawthorne High Clarion reporter approached Matthew “Crow-vo” Corvo for a comment about his life as a crime-fighting vigilante. “It is my duty to educate and protect the people of Hawthorne, New Jersey. I am passionate about my cause. Have a happy, and April Fools’.”
